FAQ

Here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions you might want to know before scheduling an appointment with us.

- Do I really need an appointment before showing up?
Yes. We only work by appointment. We do this so that when you come for your appointment  we can give you the best customer service possible.

- How do I know I'm getting a fair price?
Our customers frequently tell us we pay more than most companies who advertise that they pay "the most". Beyond just advertising a high price, when you sell rare coins and jewelry it is important that you deal with people who are trustworthy. This is why we are the only company (that we know of) in Montreal, that has a list of our employees and their credentials on our website. It is not just getting a good price on one item that matters but being treated fair on all items. Please feel free to read online what others have said about us.

- How reputable is your company?
We are the oldest coin dealers in Canada. We were founded in 1928. We are members of the Canadian Association of Numismatic Dealers, and our President, besides being the long time President of the Lakeshore Coin Club, and the Montreal Numismatic Society, is a life time member of the American Numismatic Association, and the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association. We are also price advisors for many reference books in the coin industry. Besides individuals, we often help banks, trust companies, law firms, accountants, and governments liquidate estates and assets they have acquired. Feel free to read more details in the "About Us" section.

- What's the easiest way to get to your offices?
If you are using public transportation, we are very close to the Peel metro station, and close walking distance from the future McGill REM station downtown. If driving, there are many parking lots within a block or two from our office. In many cases we will refund your parking costs. Please ask when arranging your appointment.

- Should I clean my coins?
No. This will damage the coin and will lower the collector value. Most collectors prefer coins as original as possible, even if darkly toned.

- What do I need when I arrive for my appointment?
Please bring a valid piece of government ID with photo. We require this to make purchases.

- Do you do house calls?
No. To make it the most safe transaction possible, we do everything in a secure office.  We also have access to references and tools, and good lighting, all which may be required to help evaluate your items.

- Do you also buy modern coins from 1968 to now?

We buy all silver and gold coins regardless of date of issue, and we also buy some modern coins made by the Royal Canadian Mint.   We do not buy or evaluate other coins from 1968 to date, even if they are errors or varieties.
